Winter Honeysuckle

Winter Honeysuckle - February 2020

After having very stormy weather for the past couple of weeks, I finally had a sunny day for my photo shoot this week.

Spring was definitely in the air, and there were a few new flowers beginning to bloom in my garden. The first of which was this Winter Honeysuckle (Lonicera fragrantissima) bush, which was a cutting taken from a plant in my dad's garden, and which was flowering for the first time.

Winter Windflower - February 2020

This Winter Windflower (Anemone blanda) was my next port of call, and which was harbouring a small visitor.

Hellebore - February 2020

The Hellebores (Helleborus orientalis) had been flowering for about a month now, and this was my favourite variety, Double Ellen Spotted.

Grape Hyacinth - February 2020

The Grape Hyacinth (Muscari) had only just begun to flower, and were almost lost amongst the sea of their green leaves.

Miniature Daff - February 2020

There were a small army of Miniature Daffodils (Narcissus) dotted around the garden, and all were looking bright and beautiful in the morning sunshine.

Purple Crocus - February 2020

The purple Crocus were also looking very attractive as they caught the sun and showed off their textured petals.

Snowtopia - February 2020

Finally, the Bacopa 'Snowtopia' (Chaenostoma cordatum) continued to confound me having flowered all through the summer and autumn, and had now almost made it through the winter!

So this week I went with Winter Honeysuckle as my Image of the Week simply because it was great to see it flower for the first time...
